Cell structure
The Li\/MnO2 electrochemical system can be manufactured according to different designs and mechanisms to meet the various requirements of miniaturization and lightweight mobile power sources for different applications. It can have various structural forms, including coin type, carbon pack type, winding type, and square battery pack body.
Coin battery
The manganese dioxide sheet is facing the negative electrode of the lithium disk, separated by a non-woven polypropylene separator in the middle, which penetrates the electrolyte. The battery adopts rolled edge compression sealing. The battery case serves as the positive terminal, while the cover serves as the negative terminal. This coin style battery has a lifespan of 3 years.

Discharge reaction of battery
Negative electrode reaction: Li→ Li+ +e-
Positive electrode reaction: Mn+4O2+Li++e -→ Mn+3O2(Li+)
Total discharge reaction: Mn+4O2+Li→ Mn+3O2(Li+)
The open circuit voltage of lithium manganese dioxide batteries is about 3V, and a stable discharge voltage is one of their major characteristics.
